Cardiff Airport Search Facility

With an expected growth in passenger numbers, coupled with UK Government’s legislative requirements, Cardiff Airport aims to extend its customer experience with the redevelopment and overhaul of its central search facility.

We were appointed to assist the Cardiff International Airport and deliver its new central search facility.

Following the airport’s expansion and refurbishment of the airport’s customer facilities, the redevelopment of the central search system is a natural extension to optimise the passenger experience.

Following an options analysis with stakeholders, the new layout creates the opportunity for a new and improved landside food and beverage offering and additional airside retail space. The redevelopment will also feature new scanner lines with parallel PRM/VIP lines, providing a faster and easier pre-flight security process for Cardiff Airport’s passengers.

Through collaboration with our clients and stakeholders, we integrated a phased approach into our designs to ensure the airport continues to operate with the least possible disruption. Through thorough analysis of the existing building, space allocation and passenger movement, we designed new access routes, including new queuing zones, new redress areas, and the installation of new scanner lines and boarding scanners to create an efficient and welcoming environment.

The airport will have the capacity to offer screening services to its passengers and facilitate a faster and simpler process for airport passengers.
