Shirley

Shirley is an Associate Director and Scotland Lead. She joined Rio in 2005, and her role within the team has consistently aligned with residential developments, with a particular focus on tall buildings.

Her experience in residential projects spans from affordable social housing to student accommodation, high-end private for sale properties and, more recently, Build-to-Rent (BTR) and co-living spaces. Her design ethos for any residential scheme stems from a profound aspiration to create extraordinary environments.

She has a very particular talent for working closely with clients to accomplish intricate and sometimes contentious planning permission, all while upholding a high degree of design integrity. Shirley demonstrates a meticulous approach and careful consideration of spatial planning and invests in getting the very best out of site development and working on early-stage feasibility studies.

Shirley also actively fosters networking and learning opportunities in and around Edinburgh and Glasgow as a part of her responsibilities on the fbe Edinburgh committee.
