Rio Architects

Say hello to the new members of our team

We’re pleased to welcome Amy Frohwein, George Roberts and Lee Griffiths to the practice as we enter our 25th year.

Amy joins the team as Architectural Assistant, having recently graduated from the Swansea School of Architecture with a BSc (Hons). Her passion for community-based projects and improving lives through design is perfectly placed in our team as she begins working on the redesign and revitalisation of St David’s Catholic Sixth Form College.

Interior Designer George Roberts strengthens our multidisciplinary approach with his passion for design psychology, branding and storytelling following his first-class honours degree from the University of South Wales. His understanding of how spaces influence human behaviour and brand experience will be valuable to the team as we deliver the refurbishment of Coleg Merthyr Tydfil, which is being thoughtfully modernised to improve its learning spaces.

Senior Architect Lee Griffiths brings over 20 years of experience to the practice. He has worked on multiple award-winning buildings, like the Wales Millennium Centre and St Fagans Museum, which won the RSAW Building of the Year, and numerous conservation awards and will be helping us to deliver one of the first developments within Cardiff’s Atlantic Wharf masterplan.

He also has a wealth of experience designing buildings for education, ranging from the Academies Programme to BSF to SEWSCAP, delivering nurseries, primary schools and secondary schools for Local Authority and Contractor Clients.

2024 was an exceptional year of growth and achievement for our team. This year marks our 25th anniversary and is shaping up to be an exciting one as we begin work on multiple large-scale and inspiring projects across the UK.

The calibre of our expanding team, combined with our strong project pipeline, positions us perfectly to deliver design-driven architecture that moves beyond expectations for our clients in the years ahead.”
